about

Do you have a favourite 'go-to' place in nature where the world makes sense?

The ocean has long inspired artists. Jung talked about the 'collective unconscious repository' the sea represents. We can all draw inspiration from it. How does the natural world nourish your imagination?
Mike wrote the first half of this song when he was a teenager and the second half after crossing several oceans, having a child and more.
What would you tell your teenage self?

We explore these themes and more on the Fable Gazers podcast 'This Art May Save You' which the songs on this album appear.

lyrics

Running down

Running down
To the ocean
Running down
To the sea

You were shaken off
And left for drowned
Played for the fool
It’s all done now
We all want some permanence
Still searching for that something else

Take that leap
And lay it on the line
Gotta open up, let in the light
These moments are significant
They’ll pass you by in a heartbeat

Been around the bend and back again
And now I think I’m doing fine
Living by the mantra that all things end
In time

Running down
To the ocean
Running down
To the sea

So here we are
On down that road
Nowhere to hide
So much to show
We all want things to make sense
To understand is not to know

So, take the vow
And share my soul
With a new life
That we’ve watched grow
Wouldn’t change a single thing
I never want to let you go

Been around the bend and back again
But now I think I’m doing fine
Living by the mantra that all things end
In time

Running down
To the ocean
Running down
To the sea
